Being President means giving up my privacy, my youth, my financial security, and probably my sanity. It means getting sued, attacked, and dragged through the mud for years. I must do it anyway. Not because I'm ambitious or power-hungry. I'm running because I am angry.
Angry at myself mostly. Because I used to be one of those people who said "voting doesn't matter," and "the system is rigged," and "you can't fight city hall." I was asleep, like millions of Americans. And I wasted years accepting powerlessness as normal.
Our voting system was designed for the 1700s: vulnerable, opaque, and begging to be exploited. Our economy locks capital away from anyone without existing wealth or connections. Our government officials openly admit they're disconnected from the people they're supposed to serve.
I'm not a career politician. I'm applying for a job with my employers, the American people. You might say I'm too young to be President. You are probably right. However, I have faith in our nation's collective wisdom to guide us forward to the nation we all dream about on our off days.
